Plasma Rich Platelet FAQ
A small amount of blood will be drawn from you. While the PRP is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. Numbing cream is applied to the face or joint. The injection or microneedling take minutes, and are only mildly uncomfortable. The procedure is quick, relatively painless, and requires no post procedure care or time off from daily events. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising fade within 1-3 days. The PRP is made from your own cells, virtually eliminating the possibility of negative side effects.
The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin, soften lines and pores. Results begin to show 3-4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. For optimal results, 3 to 6 treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 4 to 6 weeks, to achieve the best outcome.
PRP treatment is extremely safe. Because PRP is produced from your own blood, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. In addition, PRP contains concentrated amount of white blood cells, your natural defenders against infections. As a result, infection is extremely rare with our PRP treatment. It is good for all skin types.
PRP is not covered by health insurance.
Persons with active skin infections, severe acne, skin disease/cancer, chemotherapy, severe metabolic and systemic disorders, abnormal platelet function, and underlying sepsis excludes the use of PRP.
An entire facial rejuvenation treatment including an initial consultation costs $350 to $500. Treatments for painful joints or tendons are $500 for the first area and $250 for another area the same day.
